Always A Better Day…

When I read this quote, perspective came.

No matter how good today is, tomorrow will be better. No matter how bad today is, tomorrow will be better. Why? Because each day we are one step closer to that ‘no more tears, no more sorrow’ eternity. And because each day, today and tomorrow, do rest with the Lover of our souls.

Lately I’ve gotten wrapped up in the fact that I have to make time each day to stretch my back out, ice my back, be careful with my back. Perhaps for you it’s having to watch the budget super close, or make trips to the hospital, or care for an elderly parent, or make due with a not so good car, or fill-in-the-blank. That is how it is with us who are to be selfless, yet self-full is often more like it.

God in His wisdom reminds us: “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.'” (James 4:14 NIV)

A mist that appears for a little while – truly it seems one day we were twenty-something and the next we’re fifty-something. How much more meaningful our todays when spent noticing all the blessings and trusting regardless of the woes. And how much more meaningful our tomorrows when we start off talking about them with the phrase ‘Lord willing’.

In light of eternity these days are a mist, yet eternity is not be marked by time, but by joy. And we are able to declare: “Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things You planned for us no one can recount to You; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.” (Psalm 40:5 NIV)

Tomorrow rests with God, so today we should rest in Him…with Him it’s always a better day!
