Spending time – the only sure way to truly know another soul.
Sometimes a brief chat on the phone lifts our spirits, but nothing replaces a good heart-to-heart, hours-long soul searching with someone you love and care about.
I’ve had the privilege to bare my soul and find loving acceptance – as well as to listen and give back that same acceptance. ‘Sweet’ describes the bonds made – and memories made – during these times.
The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. (Proverbs 27:9 NLT)
And yet, as wonderful as these times shared with earthly friends and family may be – they don’t quite hit the mark. We sense something is left unsaid, unfinished.
Imagine how satisfying it was to Jesus’ followers to hear these sweet words as they journeyed through hard times with Him: You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15 NIV)
Everything – Jesus bared His soul. Everything those who follow need to know, He has revealed. And whenever we spend the time to bare our souls to Him, He tenderly and attentively hears. And He reminds us of the hope that is ours.
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. (Hebrews 6:19 NIV)
Through the curtain, a passing in, always welcome. Better than any spa day could ever be, for this sanctuary is always at hand. An inner sanctuary – a place of rest free from condemnation and full of acceptance.
We are precious in His sight. InSight, He keeps us always before Him. His counsel always satisfies. Let’s pass through the curtain daily for the insight we need…

It is true none of those things, though awesome blessings, can ever take the place of knowing Him and having that time with Him. Thanks for sharing today, friend. #RaRaLinkup neighbor
